Is $8,500 to repair an HVAC system and replace ductwork a fair price?

Project Details

I noticed growth in my air handler closet upstairs. A company indicated it's likely due to a lack of insulation in the attic, causing the unit to sweat and form mildew/growth. I'm not an expert on what is reasonable and plan to get two additional quotes. This project is specifically for an upstairs area.

Quote Details

This option involves repairing the existing HVAC system and replacing affected components to address mold and mildew issues. The scope of work includes: - Detach and reset the air handler unit - Replace ductwork above to remove mold and growth - Replace the evaporator coil (due to potential leaks if reinstalled)
