Is $1,230 to repair A/C refrigerant leak a fair price?
Project Details
My A/C was struggling last year due to a small leak, which was temporarily recharged. This week, the leak was identified as being in a weld on one of the lines going to the outdoor condenser. The unit is 5 years old, and the company blames the original installation. The smaller copper line on the condenser was wet. The system was recharged late last summer but couldn't keep up with cooling recently. The quoted price is a guaranteed maximum, and it could be cheaper if less refrigerant is needed for recharge. I'm looking for verification on the leak location and whether the quote seems reasonable.
