Is $705 to add 4 lbs of R-410A refrigerant and attempt leak detection a fair price?
Project Details
My refrigerant was low, and the tech initially quoted $150 per lb. My system is about 10 years old. I thought it was R22, but the tech told my wife it's 410-90. The tech couldn't find the leak, even after dismantling the heat exchanger. I had it refilled 3 years ago, but this price seems crazy. The total bill was $705, and he put in 4 lbs. A replacement unit is estimated to cost $10k+. I hope this refill lasts a couple more summers before I need to replace the unit.
