Is $800 to remove mold from duct vents a fair price?

I had a duct vent cleaning company send someone to clean the vents while I was not around. The technician took pictures and told me there was mold, and he could not clean unless the mold was removed first. I suspect it might be a trick, as I couldn't really tell what mold he was talking about. It's been more than 5 years since I last had the vents cleaned.
