Is $5,000 to replace an evaporator coil a fair price?

Project Details

My evaporator coil inside starts to freeze on hotter days. I cleaned the coil with cleaning spray from Lowe’s. The blower motor seems normal, but the coil is not in the best shape. When I leave it on 73 degrees, it runs okay, but when I go more around 70 degrees, it starts to really struggle, even at night. This unit is probably 13-14 years old. I just had a technician over who said it's probably best to change the whole coil. It seemed really high to me. I'm wondering about the black substance at the coil and its general shape, and if it's probably a leak.
