Is $3,400 to replace the evaporator coil a fair price?

Project Details

My house was getting pretty warm this weekend, and I noticed the lines to the outside unit were frozen, and the evaporator coil in the attic was also frozen. I turned off the AC to let it thaw out. My air filters are clean, and I didn't see any standing water in the drain for the evaporator. My current AC system is 11 years old. I'm fairly handy and have done lots of DIY remodeling, so I'm considering a DIY replacement to save on labor costs. I'm wondering if I should replace the whole system or just the coil, and if I should replace the furnace as well, even though I've had no issues with it.
