Is $6,000 to replace inducer motor assembly and update exhaust piping a fair price?
Project Details
I have a Bryant furnace, model 987MA42080V17, series B, manufactured October 2013, which came with my house when I bought it six years ago. Last month, after a heating system tuneup, the furnace gave an error code 42 (inducer motor fault). I've opened the furnace and found that the inducer motor is getting power and spins freely, contrary to what I expected. I'm unsure how to proceed, as putting it back together still resulted in error 42. Last year, a power outage caused the same error, but flipping the breaker resolved it. I'm considering buying a new inducer motor assembly (part #337938-791-CBP) but see a wide price range online. I'm looking for other potential solutions.

This option includes: - Replacement of the inducer motor assembly. - Update of the exhaust piping to meet current code requirements (not schedule 40). - The exhaust piping update is required because code changed, and if the company works on the system, they are obligated to update it.
