Is $6,985 to repair a Trane Comfort Link II XL20i AC unit a fair price?
Project Details
My 16-year-old Trane Comfort Link II XL20i unit wasn't cooling properly, but no error codes were displayed. I had a technician diagnose that one of the compressors, the TXV, and the compressor start kit needed replacing. From my research, the quoted cost of $6985 seems extraordinarily high for these repairs. I'm questioning if this is a worthwhile replacement for a 16-year-old unit, especially since I don't have the finances for a full replacement unit (which would cost around $16k-$18k) right now. I have a second company coming out for another opinion. I live in Arizona, where an AC unit is essential.
