Is $8,500 to replace 2.5 ton AC unit with a Goodman 14 SEER a fair price?
Project Details
I just moved into a condo in Texas. My original AC unit, which is 19 years old, is at its end of life. It isn't cooling well, runs constantly, is basically out of refrigerant, and leaks water in my utility closet. I've received two quotes that are very similar, making it hard to decide. I'm leaning towards the first quote because I got good vibes from the technician, but the second quote offers a slightly nicer and more efficient unit with a new thermostat for a marginally better price. I'm hesitant to commit to the second installer without having met them. I want to know if the differences in the unit or the price are significant enough to warrant choosing one over the other.
