Is $2,700 to recover and recharge AC system due to contaminated refrigerant a fair price?
Project Details
I called an HVAC guy out because my system struggles during heat waves, only reaching 76-77 degrees when it's 95 outside, even though it usually maintains 70-74 degrees. The temperature difference between supply and return vents is only 13 degrees. The HVAC technician diagnosed the issue, noting my RUUD 2.5 ton 410A unit from 2021 has contaminated refrigerant, which appeared dark yellow and can cause low performance. My system is from 2022, but I'm the second owner, so no warranty applies. This company is highly rated in Chicago.
