Is $2,300 to replace the ECM motor a fair price?

My elderly mother is having issues with her HVAC system. The HVAC company got her AC working temporarily by switching around the taps as stages 1-4 of the ECM motor were burned out. I'm trying to understand the options and minimize costs as I am currently unemployed and would be using my 401k to pay for the replacement. The current AC unit has multiple R410a leaks and is at its end of life.
