Is $2,000 to replace AC flex tubing with copper tubes a fair price?

Project Details

My AC unit, installed in 2021, is struggling to cool my home; it can't even drop the temperature from 77 to 75 degrees when it's 86 degrees outside. I'm concerned about the legitimacy of the quote I received, especially since they also offered to replace the entire system, which raised a red flag for me. I'm planning to get a second opinion.

Quote Details

This quote addresses an issue where the AC was allegedly installed incorrectly in 2021, using flex tubing instead of copper tubes. This is causing refrigerant leaks, freezing, and blocked airflow. The proposed work involves replacing the existing flex tubing with copper tubes to resolve these issues. - Problem: AC installed incorrectly with flex tubing instead of copper tubes- Consequence: Refrigerant leaking, freezing, and blocking air- Solution: Replace flex tubing with copper tubes
