Is $4,000 to improve attic ventilation and insulation to R50 a fair price?
Project Details
I live in Canada, just east of the Rockies, where it gets cold and snows, but we have a dry climate, and the snow comes and goes, so buried vents won't be for long. However, the attic rain phenomenon is very real here. I understand the concept of air balance with the attic but have limited knowledge otherwise. My house has zero air intake under the soffits (confirmed by two inspections) and only 3 small exhaust vents. I'm looking to improve attic ventilation and top up insulation. I want to do it right the first time, but also just enough and not too much. I'm trying to determine if Quote One is sufficient for a properly functioning attic, or if Quote Two is overkill or exactly what I need to resolve this issue permanently.
