Is $1,200 to structural assessment for load-bearing wall a fair price?
Project Details
I am considering knocking down the wall between my kitchen and living room in my Burbank bungalow to create an open concept space. My house feels cramped with the current layout, but I am worried about losing storage and creating noise issues. The kitchen is 120 square feet and the living room is 180 square feet. The wall appears to be load-bearing based on how it runs perpendicular to the floor joists. My neighbors who did similar work say it transformed their space but also mention cooking smells spreading everywhere. I am wondering if it's worth the 15k-20k investment.
