Is $85,000 to a full-service kitchen remodel including design and permits a fair price?

Project Details

My house was built in 1949. It’s a typical cape. The bay window added in the 70s needs to be replaced and reroofed. The countertop is worn and beginning to peel apart. The dishwasher attachment has let go as there’s not enough left at that are under the counter to hold it. The flooring was replaced about 10 years ago, but I’d replace it again with a remodel. I like my appliances and would like to keep them to help keep cost down. The kitchen wasn’t designed to be "eat in" but the 70s remodel allowed for a small table. My husband passed away and my kids are grown, with one still in college, so home for the summer. I’ll probably keep the house until he’s graduated and then sell. I feel like now is the time for the remodel, as necessary repairs will be pricey, so it's better to do a whole remodel, enjoy it a bit, and have it ready for selling. I am not skilled in design or remodeling. I am still working full time as an elementary teacher, so I cannot make or receive phone calls between 7:30 and 2:30 and cannot be flexible with which days I work. The design team may be beneficial for that reason. If I wait and retire first, other options might be more reasonable. One of my concerns is having options along the way so that I can have some control over the cost.
