Is $70,000 to renovate an entire kitchen a fair price?

Project Details

I'm sharing the wins and lessons learned from my personal kitchen renovation. I'm an interior designer, so I was able to get great pricing from my suppliers and contractors, including a 25% discount on cabinets. I was initially rushed to complete the kitchen and chose overlay cabinetry, but I now wish I had waited for inset cabinetry to fit my budget. I also designed an appliance garage that no longer fits my upgraded espresso machine, and I would opt for more counter space instead if I were to redo it. While I love the reeded glass, it requires keeping dishes very tidy. I also chose a budget-friendly faucet that feels lighter and cheaper than it looks when using hot water. Overall, I'm happy with many choices like the drain grooves, hidden outlets, unlacquered brass pulls, drawer microwave, pot filler, quartzite countertops, and the 48-inch range.
