Is $60,000 to remodel a kitchen a fair price?

My kitchen is small and currently only has 2 drawers, making it feel like we lack usable space. We are considering remodeling and have heard recommendations for an IKEA kitchen, so I'm wondering if that's a good solution for a small space. I had a contractor quote us $60,000, which seems insane. We previously remodeled a kitchen for my grandma with help from friends and family, which cost $10,000 for a kitchen twice the size, so we don't know what to expect or how to tackle this solo. The existing upper cabinets are in poor condition with broken doors, many drill holes, large gaps between cabinets, and separation from the walls. We bought the house this way and always knew they needed replacement.
