Is $80,000 to install custom MDF cabinets with wood fronts and quartz countertop and backsplash a fair price?
Project Details
We are doing a complete tear down including cabinets, tile and converting adjoining laundry room into a walk in pantry. The current cabinets are super cheap MDF with many problems, including fallen pulls and broken drawers, and I would prefer them to extend to the ceiling. The existing dark wood and blue tile make the kitchen very dark, and I desire a kitchen with more light to extend the feeling of nature from our backyard forest. The current tile is also extremely slippery when wet, which is a concern with small kids and a pool. I want to use white oak or maple for new cabinets, and new matte porcelain tile in cream or ivory colors for the flooring. The attached 7x10 former laundry room will be converted into a walk-in pantry, and the peninsula will be replaced with an island that has seating towards the sitting room. The kitchen is 25 x 12 feet. The island would start after the fridge, replacing the kitchen table area. I am meeting a designer next week to discuss further ideas. The quote I received was in CAD, which is approximately 59K USD.
