Is $2,780 to remove a closet staircase, install a pull-down ladder, and create two closets a fair price?
Project Details
I hired a general contractor for a job that was supposed to take 2-3 days but has now extended into week 4. The contractor demoed a closet staircase but never returned to complete the work, leaving the demo debris on site. I paid $1,800 towards the total $2,780 quote. The contractor has left equipment and materials at my home and is threatening cancellation fees based on a contract I never saw, received, or signed. I am debating suing in small claims court for the uncompleted work and am unsure how to handle the contractor's equipment. I've since hired a new contractor who is doing excellent work. While I doubt I'll get my money back, I want to document this situation.
