Is $1,200 to finish drywall on a ceiling a fair price?

I just had my ceiling finished, as the walls were done previously by someone else. The previous person never finished the job, so I hired someone else to complete the work, and only the ceiling was left. The contractor didn't touch the walls because I have some mold spots that need to be torn out first. My neighbor thinks I was overcharged, but I wasn't sure, which is why I posted about it. I already had all the drywall, screws, and putty. I believe I might need to apply another layer of mud, sand, and then a final coat myself to fully finish it. I already paid the contractor.
