Is $13,800 to remove popcorn ceiling and refinish 600 sqft of ceiling a fair price?
Project Details
I live in an old condo and got popcorn ceiling replacement. I am paying a very high price based on what others have paid. I wanted it done legally and to be a good job. This has been a very difficult project, requiring changes, and I've been out of my condo for a month due to poor planning and workmanship. The drywall looks patchy, especially around the fixed areas. The white paint looks grayish and dingy in some places, and there are visible patterns over the taped portions. There are also lots of issues where the ceiling meets the wall, which looks uneven and unprofessional to me. I have not paid the last 20% yet. The company is currently replacing doors and light fixtures. I am willing to go to small claims court but am unsure when to pursue this route or inform the company. I am looking for recommendations on what to do to fix it.

Remove painted popcorn ceiling and refinish
This quote is for the removal of painted popcorn ceiling, followed by refinishing and painting the entire house ceiling. The popcorn ceiling has been painted over, making it difficult to remove with a drywall sander. A stomp texture finish is planned to hide imperfections after the ceiling has been refinished with mud. The work also accounts for existing crown molding throughout the house, which extends to the ceiling. - Scope: Remove painted popcorn ceiling, refinish, and paint - Area: Entire house ceiling - Ceiling Size: 2400 sqft - Removal Method: Scraping (drywall sander not effective due to paint) - Finish: Stomp texture - Special Consideration: Existing crown molding everywhere, extending to the ceiling
