Is $4,000 to install a new water main a fair price?
Project Details
I have an excavator and plumber scheduled to come out this week. I originally hired them because my main line looked like absolute crap and there was evidence of a leak that was patched (water damage and rot all around sill and siding). I cut through the old main line today because I need it out of the way to patch up the sill where I removed the rotten stuff, and it honestly looks fine. My plumber said that they didn’t think the line had another 3 years in it. Was he yanking my chain? My father agreed with him but to be fair he only saw it via FaceTime. For background this house is over 100 years old and it’s possible this main was originally installed with the house.
