Is $550 to remove a portion of an active gas pipe and cap it a fair price?
Project Details
Previous home owner had an aftermarket ventless fireplace, we got rid of that hideous thing but there's still an L shaped gas pipe sticking out of the drywall. The pipe is active and would need to cut around the dry wall to get at it. I am considering if I should DIY this or hire out a professional.

Repair a flue pipe that doesn't go through the roof
Repair the flue pipe for the indoor gas heating unit that was improperly installed. - Issue: Flue pipe was cut off and does not properly vent through the roof. - Current State: Only a half-inch gap connects to the outside. - Suspected Cause: Roofers likely cut the pipe and shingled over the hole during a previous roof replacement, placing the flue cap on top for cosmetic appearance. - Scope of Work: Correct the flue pipe installation to ensure proper venting through the roof.

The pipe runs from the basement boiler room, up the wall of the first floor, and into the second-floor kitchen stove. It serves the 2nd-floor gas stove only.
