Is $250 to add treatment and clean a pool filter to clear green water a fair price?
Project Details
My pool has turned quite green over the last week or so, and my pool guy attributes it to debris from palm trees. I'm looking for fast and inexpensive solutions to prevent and clear the water because I've been laid off for almost a year, and finances are tight. I have a very bad back, which makes it difficult for me to clean the pool myself; one day of cleaning puts me out for a week or more. I'm considering hiring someone 3-4 times a year just for filter cleaning, investing in a robot scrubber (leaning toward Wybot C1), and handling chemicals myself. I'm unsure of my filter type, but it's a cylinder with a valve on top. I had my water tested, and chlorine levels are good; the pool supply store suggested alkaline and phosphate treatment, which would require about two filter cleanings. We had to change plans for a get-together with BBQ and swimming due to the pool's condition.

Drain and clean a pool
This service involves draining and cleaning the pool. The company indicated it was the only way to remove suspected plaster particles, algae, leaves, and other debris. However, they advised me to perform the service myself, as the pool's plaster is 20-30 years old and coming off, and they didn't want to charge me for something I could do myself.
