Is $1,300 to get a green pool clean a fair price?
Project Details
My pool, which is approximately 15,000 gallons, turned green because it wasn't chemically maintained for three weeks. There isn't a lot of algae, leaves, or debris, but I couldn't see the bottom. I live in a high cost of living area in a San Francisco Bay Area suburb. I'm new to maintaining pools since this is a new house for me. I thought the pool guy would perform shocking and flocculation, not just run the filter 24/7. After running the filter (cartridge-based) and pump continuously for seven days, the water is clearing up, and I can see the bottom. I feel like I've been ripped off because the filter and pump did most of the work, and I'm concerned about a high power bill. I didn't realize this job would be easy if the pool had only been green for a few weeks. I watched YouTube videos that showed vacuuming, which I thought involved a lot of manual work. I'm not sure how much the chemicals he used cost, probably $100 or less. Next time, I plan to do it myself.
