Is $1,120 to repair a Pentair MasterTemp 400 pool heater a fair price?
Project Details
I own a Pentair MasterTemp 400 and use it about 1-2x per week during the summer swim season. Over the years, I've had tons of problems with pool heaters; this is my second or third new heater in 10 years. This weekend, the heater wouldn't fire up, presenting a "Service Heater" light on the front display. I'm wondering if I really need to replace both the stack flue sensor (SFS) and control board, and how they determined both need replacement simultaneously. I'm also questioning if I can do this myself, if the price is reasonable, and why I constantly have heater issues (SFS, internal coil, heat element, control board, etc.).
