Is $900 to replace a control board on a Pentair 2500 heater a fair price?

I have had this Pentair 2500 heater for three years, and it blows a control board annually. I'm concerned about the recurring issue and wonder if it's due to a voltage surge or another underlying problem. The quote of $900 for a new board seems excessive, especially since I've seen boards available online for $50-$180, and it appears to be a simple installation. I'm worried that even with a replacement, another board will blow.
