Is $8,500 to install a wellpoint and new liner for a pool a fair price?

I drained almost all of the water out of my pool, and now there's water under the liner at the deep end, and the liner is all wonky all the way around. My current pool company, who hasn't seen it in person, suggested just filling it back up with water, stating that the water pressure in the pool will squeeze out the water underneath the liner, though I'd have wrinkles. This sounds physically possible, but I feel like it's a cheap/half-ass approach that might compromise the liner, which is already at least 7-8 years old. I've already filled it back up with about 4 hours of hose water but wasn't seeing any change, so I stopped. I was going to get more local options before proceeding, but no one is available on short notice and on the weekend.
