Is $2,700 to seal the area around the chimney a fair price?

Project Details

I just bought this 100-year-old house and am working through key priorities from the inspection. The roof was leaking into the attic around the chimney because of improper prior installation. I'm personally horrified by the repair job, but I'm trying to get a second opinion before reaching back to the contractor.

Repair a roof leak around the chimney

This quote is for repairing a roof leak around the chimney area. The issue is believed to be caused by faulty step flashing. - Repair Area: Around the chimney corners - Existing Damage: Water getting inside the attic, some wood rot - Proposed Cause: Step flashing issue - Included Work: Replacement of new shingles, wood, and step flashing in the affected area - Alternative Theory (Homeowner's Note): One roofer suggested water could be coming through corner boards of the siding, but I do not believe this is the case as other homes in the neighborhood are similar.
