Is $70,000 to replace roof with metal shingles and replace fascia a fair price?
Project Details
My parents were pressured into signing a contract for a roof replacement. The price of $70,000 was much higher than the initial expectation of around $45,000. The contract is not itemized. I am concerned about the company's high-pressure sales tactics and reputation. The house has a standard, relatively simple two-story roof (one side is 1 story, the other is 2 story) with a low slope. We have decided to cancel the contract and seek other quotes. The company representative attempted to dissuade us from canceling, claiming their metal asphalt roof is unique and superior to other options like standing seam metal roofs. The initial sales meeting lasted over 4 hours and involved high pressure tactics and freebies like coffee and a vacation offer.
