Is $4,460 to repair chimney flashing and cap a fair price?
Project Details
I had a previous contractor do a poor job on the flashing interface between my metal roof tiles and the stone veneer chimney after a renovation. I hired a new contractor to redo the work properly. The original quote was for a much larger scope, including removing and salvaging metal tiles, installing new metal flashings, and re-installing tiles, priced at $4960.00. A different worker showed up and performed a much smaller scope of work (flashing around the cap, caulking, painting) in about 4 hours. I was surprised by the limited scope compared to the quote. I later received a revised invoice for $4460.00 for the work actually performed. I feel this price is excessively high for the work done, which I estimate should cost significantly less based on a second opinion. I am trying to figure out how to challenge the invoice.
