Is $17,000 to replace entire roof a fair price?
Project Details
I initially contacted the contractor for chimney flashing repair. After inspecting the roof, the contractor claimed I needed a whole new roof based on two photos showing minor issues (exposed nails, chimney flashing). The roof is only 10 years old, and another contractor disagreed that a full replacement was necessary. The quoted price was around $17,000 with a high-pressure deadline. I am skeptical of the contractor's assessment and urgency, especially considering their incentivized reviews and the fact that they initially told my wife there were 100+ holes but only provided photos of minor issues when asked for proof. I believe the issues shown in the photos are repairable. I am located in the Northeast.
