Is $58,500 to install a solar system with batteries a fair price?
Project Details
I've reached out to a few installers and have received two quotes so far. I'm in Illinois and expect to receive federal tax credit, Illinois SRECs, and Ameren IL Inverter and Battery rebates (which apparently 100% cover those items). I'm concerned that the cost without batteries ($4.27/watt) seems high, though after rebates and tax credit, it's $1.32/watt. I received another quote for $52k for a 12.4 kW system without batteries, but I passed on it because they didn't provide a detailed walkthrough. I've asked for a more detailed cost breakdown, including line item costs, and am waiting for a response. I believe I miscalculated the $/W cost initially because I assumed the battery rebate equaled the battery cost. I need the detailed breakdown for accuracy.
