Is $250 to a site visit for solar gateway troubleshooting and reconfiguration a fair price?

Project Details

I live in the Tampa Bay area of Florida and have had a solar array at my house for 3+ years. I had a plethora of issues the first year getting the system stable, but all work was done gratis. A few weeks ago the gateway stopped reporting. I was shocked that my installer charges for a service call for warranty work, as I've never paid for warranty work before (parts and labor are usually free). I kept the replacement motherboard that was sent, as I was told it's coded to my system. If I have future issues, I'm sure I'll be on the hook for another call to replace it. The issue was that my gateway would not connect to the cloud to upload my system production and usage data. It was originally running on WiFi, but the gateway had spotty connection to my router so the installer added a cellular modem some years ago. The gateway kept trying to switch from WiFi to cellular, which caused the issue Enphase diagnosed as MB failure. I need to adjust my expectations regarding paying for warranty work.

This quote is for a site visit to address issues with a solar gateway. The visit was initially intended for the installation of a new motherboard, which was provided free by the system manufacturer under warranty. However, during the visit, the technician determined the motherboard replacement was not necessary. - Service: Site visit for solar gateway troubleshooting and reconfiguration - Duration: 15 minutes on-site - Initial Problem: Solar gateway stopped reporting data, specifically not connecting to the cloud to upload system production and usage data. - Root Cause: Gateway was attempting to switch between WiFi and cellular connections due to a spotty WiFi signal, leading to communication issues. - Resolution: Technician disabled the WiFi connection on the gateway and configured it to use cellular-only. - Parts: A new motherboard was sent by the OEM but was not installed; the homeowner retained it.

Send a technician to inspect the inverter

SolarEdge is offering to send a technician to my home to inspect the inverter. - Service includes: On-site inspection of the inverter to diagnose communication issues. - This service is proposed after I paid for a 1-year data plan renewal, but my system data is still not visible on the app after 3 weeks. - I suspect the issue is related to app settings or data plan activation rather than a hardware fault, as the problem coincided with the data plan expiration.
