Is $231 to lease a solar system (PPA) a fair price?
Project Details
We are buying a new build home in Northern California that comes with solar installed by Sunrun. We have no option for any other company as they just switched from Sun Nova to Sunrun for our phase. We've never had solar before and know nothing about it. We have the option to purchase outright or lease for 25 years. They are doing a hard sell on the PPA option, which makes me leery, especially after reading about Sunrun PPAs. I know I would lose out on the solar tax credit and any additional California incentives if I purchase. I'm not sure which option to choose and am looking for advice.
