Is $58,000 to install a 21.25kW solar panel system a fair price?

Project Details

I currently use about 20,000 kWh per year and am planning for 24,000 kWh of annual consumption due to a new EV. I have compared 9 quotes and narrowed it down to this company and one other, which offers slightly higher-end panels for an additional $15,000. I appreciate having a company that can service and maintain the system, and handle town, utility, and warranty issues, despite knowing it would be cheaper to do it myself. All companies have stated that utility and town timelines are out of their hands and they cannot guarantee installation before the end of the year. I received some quotes that were $20,000-$30,000 higher that I dismissed. I plan on getting a battery in the future when they are more affordable, as our net metering pays 75% wholesale rate, and power outages are rare, so I use a generator when needed. I calculated that the cost of the upgrade after tax credit and forced appreciation would be about $20,000. I used ChatGPT to compare and contrast all estimates, and a Google search shows a similar price per watt average. Not having someone to essentially take care of the system in case of any issues (like install) is a concern, though I did consider DIY.
