Is $43,179 to install a 27.06 kW solar system with Mission 410w panels and Enphase IQ8+ microinverters a fair price?
Project Details
I am taking another swing at solar for my home as it seems we are on the verge of losing the tax credit. I am a member of the Houston Switch Together group, which promises high quality lower cost systems based on group buys. I have a whole house generator, so batteries are not needed. I feel like the price is on the high side when compared to other companies, though it has been a while since I had a local installer do a site visit. The price per kWh seems reasonable pre-tax credit, and fantastic post-tax credit. Another company recently quoted me about $8k lower with a higher production value. My roof is not yet 10 years old. My usage based on my own tracking is around 38,000-40,000 kWh per year (dual HVAC, pool, 2 EV, full house). The claimed generation comes fairly close to covering that at 33,000 kWh. My roof has a number of different facets and the orientation, while good, is not ideal for maximum generation. I am unsure if 66 panels can actually fit on my roof.
