Is $3,000 to replace a Pella sliding glass door a fair price?

I had a Pella sliding glass door installed today. The door was a special order return from Lowe's, which allowed for a significant discount. After the installers left, I discovered a large scratch at eye level near the center of the door, and a small chip on the fiberglass frame. I'm unsure if the scratch was present before installation or caused during the process. I contacted the contractor, who indicated that due to it being a clearance item, a return might be difficult, and they would look at it during our next project in a couple of weeks. I feel the contractor should take responsibility, but replacing the door would likely mean paying more. I'm disappointed as the scratch is very noticeable, and I suspect it might have been caused by the installers. I doubt I will pay to replace the glass and am considering hanging curtains to hide it.
