Is $3,800 to install 9 replacement windows and convert double windows to a sliding glass door a fair price?
Project Details
I am buying the windows myself. I prefer to have control over the order and did the same thing when this contractor reshingled my roof last year. It worked out, and I trust his work ethic. For the sliding glass door conversion, there is already an opening. I don't care about the drywall as I just ripped it out in August to put insulation in and re-drywalled; only the bottom part will need replacing. The contractor is doing everything but the inside framing, which I will handle. I think the quote isn't out of line, as he will need to pay for extra people for the large window and slider. I'm just trying to get a feel for pricing and make sure he isn't under-quoting either. I did get a second quote this week which was around $350 per window and an additional $3500 for the slider install, which I rejected. I offered to send a picture of the framing where the slider is going in, as one side has no jack stud, and the other is correct.
