Is $3,500 to replace an alcove tub like for like a fair price?
Project Details
I am the proud owner of a historic home in St. Louis, MO. The house has only one slightly dated bathroom, which I had planned to remodel in a couple of years after putting in a half bath. Unfortunately, the acrylic bathtub in my sole bathroom just cracked. While it's still functional, I know my patch job will only last so long. I received a quote to replace the alcove tub 'like for like' for $3500, but I decided to use this opportunity to redo the entire bathroom now instead, as a 'like for like' replacement followed by a full reno later is less cost-effective. I hadn't started planning my vision for the bathroom, thinking it was years out, and now I need to start the project in the next 8 weeks. I need help designing the space, including materials, color schemes, and textures. I want the space to feel connected visually to the rest of the house, especially the hallway, pulling in the historic charm of my home.
