Is $30,000 to completely gut and remodel a bathroom a fair price?
Project Details
I am having a bathroom redone and am unhappy with a drywall corner, specifically an inside corner/edge where a wall meets a 'gable wall' at chest height. The vertical wall was completely re-framed, and the rafters forming the 'gable wall' were sistered to make sure that wall was flat. I had a conversation with the contractor prior to paint about the prep not looking complete, but he reassured me his painters would finish it. After the painters, I discussed this specific joint with him. He worked on it, repainted, and I was still unhappy. He came back for a third pass, but I still think it's poor quality. I feel like it should be a straight, crisp line. I am a construction manager for a living (MEP) and know I could do better, as I've done drywall myself. I am considering asking for a deduct and dealing with it myself.

Remodel two bathrooms (labor only)
This quote is for the labor associated with remodeling two bathrooms. The homeowner purchased all materials separately. Initially, issues arose with visible grid lines on the penny tile floor and misaligned penny tile on the walls. The contractor initially stated that grid lines are always visible, suggested using white grout, and claimed the chosen penny tile was not intended for floors. Following homeowner feedback and concerns, the contractor committed to rectifying the issues. The scope of work now includes: - Ripping out and replacing the penny tile floor. - Re-grouting the bathroom walls. - Re-setting some wall tiles as needed. - Specific design pattern for penny tile (flower design) was discussed. - Grout color was switched from charcoal to platinum to improve contrast.
