Is $57,000 to replace deck boards and railings with composite a fair price?
Project Details
I have a newer 20/10 deck with a flight of stairs. I'm trying to figure out how much it would cost to replace the wood boards and railings with composite. The deck is 280 sqft of boards and 70 linear ft of railings, and the framework is fine. I just got my first quote for 57k CDN and I'm surprised by how high it is, as I thought it would be around a quarter of that. I priced out the materials myself, and even without a contractor discount, they only cost 8k, so I figured the install would be around double that. My partner could do the work, but I'd prefer to pay someone to get it done quickly rather than having it spread out over the summer.
