Is $2,500 to build a 6'x16'7" wood deck a fair price?
Project Details
My wife is requesting that I build her a deck for our small backyard, but I'm at a loss with all the options and different ways of building one, as I've never built a deck in my life. I think the $2500 quote seems way too high. My wife wants a wood deck only because she likes the aesthetic better. Our yard is tiny, 9'9" wide by 16'7" long, and the deck should cover the entire length but only be 6' wide. I'm looking for suggestions on what type of footing is best for this size and our Seattle location (which rains ~5 months out of the year and has hot summers), whether to lay fabric first then crushed paver base, and if 2x4s or 2x8s should be used. I also plan to rip out the existing paver blocks.
