Is $30,000 to fully rewire a home a fair price?
Project Details
I was quoted $30,000 for full home rewiring. I was initially shocked by the estimate, as I had read that rewiring costs typically range from $8,000 to $15,000, but I'm starting to understand it's a huge project. I'm getting mixed answers on the cost of materials. I'm buying this family home from a deceased family member's estate, and my dad is the executor, so I have full access to the house now. I plan to move in April. The house has been owned by my grandparents since the 1970s and has been kept very "time specific" with outdated electrical. I'm getting a great price on the house, and it also has sentimental value, which are my driving factors. I'm trying to prioritize this project so I can do the walls right after. My area allows homeowner electrical permits for residential work, but I'm leaning towards hiring professionals as I do not want the added stress. I work from home and need electricity, so I've discussed the inconvenience of potential power outages. I'm moving out of state and need to complete this before my little one arrives. The quote does not include any wall repair work.
