Is $6,000 to remove asbestos tile and level floor a fair price?
Project Details
I want to replace the floor in my 70s era house with SPC vinyl. When I got the estimate, they looked under the carpet and found asbestos tile. They said that the only way was to remove the tile and level the floor from the bare concrete. I am wondering if I have any other options other than removal, such as using plywood to level the floor. The house still has the carpet there. We pulled up a corner of the carpet and found nasty 70's disco green and white 9x9 tiles. Some of them were cracked, and I could see the blackish glue. I hate the carpet, but I don't want to tear it up until I have a sound solution to move forward with. If it has to be done professionally, then it is what it is.
