Is $2,500 to abate asbestos flooring in living room a fair price?
Project Details
I previously removed asbestos floor tiles in my kitchen without PPE and am concerned about exposure. Now, I need to address similar flooring in my living room before carpet installation. The flooring tested positive for 3% crystallite. I am looking for guidance on encapsulation options, specifically if 1/4 plywood or sealing with paint/epoxy is viable, as I'd prefer not to deal with removing it. I want to keep floor heights somewhat consistent with the transition into the kitchen and find the easiest method to install carpet on top of the existing flooring. I'm also concerned about my family's health and potential resale problems down the line with having to disclose this. I'm wondering if encapsulation materials can be found at a local box store, and if I need to go back and remove the flooring I installed in the kitchen and try and seal that area somehow.
