Is $20,500 to install glue down vinyl plank flooring and stairs a fair price?
Project Details
I've been researching pricing for flooring and this is my first quote from a local, larger company. My house is 1,400 square feet, plus one staircase. The company refused to itemize the quote, so I only know the new flooring itself was around $3/square foot. I was under the impression that glue-down would be better, but I'm questioning that now. They mentioned they would install click & lock after a house review, but they've had warranty claims with those floors several years later, which is why they switched to glue-down. I'm hesitant to entertain box stores for quotes. My gut tells me that $11+ per square foot for installation and non-flooring materials is high, especially since they're factoring in re-cutting all baseboard, even though matching styles are available off the shelf. I'm not looking for the cheapest option, nor the most expensive, but rather someone who cares and does the job right. I'm going to call another company recommended in a local Reddit sub to get another quote.
