Is $900 to self-leveling for LVP installation a fair price?
Project Details
I bought Cali LVP from a local shop, and their crew performed the installation. After some grinding of the concrete slab, they suggested self-leveling for an additional $900, which I agreed to. They applied the self-leveling compound, let it dry, and then installed the floor. However, they did not put down a vapor barrier nor ensure a 1/4 gap all around, both of which are required per the product's install guide. I raised my concerns, and the store owner and contractor came over but dismissed my issues, claiming 'flat' just means the LVP doesn't move, a vapor barrier is unneeded, and expansion gaps aren't really necessary. I believe their statements contradict basic flooring knowledge and the product's instructions. I cannot accept this work and am considering having them remove the LVP or negotiating a discount to fix it myself after the holidays. I understand the floor needs to be flat, not necessarily level, but I don't believe the current installation is even flat.

Prepare concrete slab and install LVP flooring
I received a quote for preparing the concrete slab and installing Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) flooring on the lower/main level of my home, which is approximately 750 sqft. The work would involve addressing various issues with the existing concrete slab to meet LVP flatness requirements, followed by the installation of the LVP flooring.Specific preparation tasks would include: - Grinding down uneven outer edges, particularly around subslab duct outlets - Repairing chipped concrete in front of the patio door and around tack strip areas - Filling a decent crack in the middle of the house near the stairs - Applying self-leveling compound to address a significant depression at the top of the stairs to the basement and a large hump in the middle of the living room, where the middle is 1"-1.5" higher than the outer edges over 9-10ft
