Is $2,000 to replace a complete blower motor a fair price?
Project Details
My Heil HVAC unit's blower stopped working because the control module on my ECM 2.3 blower motor died, specifically the thermistor. I tried replacing the control module myself with an exact match (Model #: 5SME39HL0958) from eBay, but the fan only blows at a low speed because it doesn't seem to be programmed for my Heil furnace. The original fried module is too damaged to repair. I find it frustrating that a small component failure leads to such an expensive replacement. I ended up installing an Azure Mars motor myself, which fixed the issue and saved me money.
