Is $4,830 to create two zones in my HVAC system with EWC control and automated dampers a fair price?
Project Details
I have a 3000 sq foot home with a 4 ton AC and 132000 BTU furnace. My house has a heat gain of 43860 BTU and heat loss of 78133 BTU. I'm looking to address the upstairs being about 5 degrees hotter than downstairs. The ductwork conveniently splits right off the furnace, with one vent going to the attic for upstairs and another delivering downstairs through the floors. I'm concerned if creating two zones by shutting off one floor at a time will increase resistance and stress my furnace or AC too much. I also question if the $4830 quote is reasonable, as it doesn't seem like much actual work or expensive equipment, and I'm wondering if I should shop around. I also noted that the insulation repair mentioned is minor, about 2 feet, which I could probably do myself.
